Kimberly Ray Back to previous page "I'm not a couch potato."
Kimberly has no problem talking about her past and feels her honesty will help other women. A recovering drug addict, Kimberly has turned her life around. "If you are a firm believer in God, then you know anything is possible," Kimberly says. Today, Kimberly is healthy, clean, fit and focused. She has embraced healthy eating as a positive habit to pass along to her children who live with her - Willie, 4; Jasmine, 6; and Tequilla, 2. "It's easy being healthy," she says. Kimberly encourages women to educate themselves and participate in programs like the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Supplemental Nutrition Program, which helps pregnant women, new mothers and young children eat well and stay healthy. She also recommends the Share Program, a bulk food program where members pay $15 in cash or food stamps and receive $30 worth of food. These programs help Kimberly's family maintain a healthy diet. While her children are "fruit people," Kimberly said salads, homemade vegetable soup and greens and black-eyed peas are also popular in her family. "You can do a lot of things with just a few items," she adds. "I'm an outdoor person," Kimberly says. She plays football, jump rope and chase with her children. Swimming is a favorite pastime during the summer.
