California Project LEAN has a long history of developing programs to help youth and adults eat better and be more physically active. CPL currently reaches adults and youth through the following programs.
School and Youth Environments Food on the Run is designed to strengthen youth’s skills to increase access to healthy food and physical activity options in their school and communities. Teens, parents, community members and local policymakers are informed on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity and how to take action using Playing the Policy Game, Jump Start Teens and other resources.
Community and Families Huesos Fuertes, Familia Saludable (Strong Bones, Healthy Family)encourages lifestyle behaviors that promote bone health for Latino mothers and their children as a way to reduce their risk of osteoporosis. The project utilizes Spanish-language media, community events, and a promotora program using the Bone Health Curriculum Huesos Fuertes, Familia Saludable (Strong Bones, Healthy Family Promotora Curriculum).
Community-Based Social Marketingprojects aim to increase fruit and/or vegetable, or low-fat milk consumption for students and families. CPL Regions, working with local coalitions, developed and implemented target audience-driven community-based social marketing plans to promote behavior change.
