California Project LEAN manages the development, coordination and delivery of the premier conference on childhood obesity in the nation. In partnership with the California Department of Public Health, California Department of Education, University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Center for Weight and Health, The California Endowment and Kaiser Permanente, the biennial conference (launched in 2001) has grown in breadth, depth and attendance over the last decade. The 2009 Conference was held in Los Angeles in June and had nearly 2,000 participants and over 40 workshops.
